Unheralded three year old filly With a Promise was not expected to trouble the older mares in the Listed Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast on Saturday, but nobody told her that. Prepared at Toowoomba by Ben Currie, With a Promise was first emergency in the Gold Coast Guineas against her own age group, but secured a start against the older mares in the 1200 metre Silk Stocking.

Sent to the post a rank outsider, she led for home and held off all challengers for Joshua Oliver to cling to a narrow and valuable Black Type victory over seasoned stakes performer Nancy. A modest $26,000 Magic Millions purchase for Boomer Bloodstock from the Corumbene Stud draft, With a Promise runs for Mishani Enterprises and has won five of 11 starts earning over $140,000 in prizemoney.

With a Promise is the best of two winners from Danrese, a metro winning Hurricane Sky half-sister to stakes-winner Vignor. She is the 21st stakes-winner for Yarraman Park’s superstar sire I Am Invincible, who will be fully booked again this year at a fee of $110,000. I Am Invincible was also close to Group I success in the SAJC Robert Sangster Classic in Adelaide for the fillies and mares.  His classy daughters Viddora and I am a Star filled the minor placings in the $1million sprint behind Secret Agenda.
