Hong Kong, December 2 – The John Moore trained four year-old Chevalier King again showed his liking for the Happy Valley circuit when posting his fourth win at the track on Wednesday evening.

A $150,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Chevalier King took the Class Three event over 1200 metres by a length and a half.

Carrying top weight of 133 pounds, Chevalier King speared through to lead for Darren Beadman and showed a good kick in the straight to score comfortably.

"We thought there might have been a couple of others vying for the lead tonight, and it wasn’t our original intention to go to the front," John Moore told South China Morning Post.

"When he and Darren jumped so well they were just able to dictate the race, he got the run he wanted and kicked on well in the straight under the big weight. He’s shown he’s a very good Valley horse over the short distances and next time going into class two with the lightweight I think he’ll be very competitive again."

The son of Cape Cross (IRE) has now won four races and placed four times from just 13 starts, proving most consistent for connections.

Bred by Darley, Chevalier King was a successful pinhook for Yarraman Park having been bought as a weanling from the Inglis Great Southern Sale for $85,000.

Chevalier King is the second foal of stakes-placed Lion Cavern mare Verneau (USA), who comes from the family of US Group One winner Risen Star.
