Sydney, November 30 – Talented filly Happy Hussy, a $110,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, resumed from a spell in explosive fashion when she blew away a handy field to win easily at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Not beaten far in her three previous starts last preparation, the David Payne trained filly was tuned up for her return with two recent trials and was turned out in top order.

Ridden a perfect race by apprentice Chad Schofield, she settled just off the pace and loomed into contention after turning for home and powered to the line to win the restricted fillies event over 1200 metres by four lengths.

“She’s a very nice filly and she’s getting stronger all the time as she’s learning to race,” said stable representative Stuart Rankin.

Winning rider Chad Schofield was also delighted with her effort.

“She’d been working so well, I was very confident coming into today,” he said.

A daughter of accomplished sire Hussonet (USA), Happy Hussy is a half-sister to Group III placed Prix du Sang and is the third winner for the Desert King (IRE) mare Morinda, a half-sister to Group II winner So Gorgeous, Group II winner Wild Queen and stakes-winner Cumbria.

Morinda traces back to the great matriarch Denise’s Joy through the Joy and Fun branch of the family and her current yearling, a filly by Sebring, has been entered by Yarraman Park for the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
