Gosford, December 1- When the Gai Waterhouse trained three-year old filly Albertina cruised home to win at Gosford on Thursday she became the 15th individual winner sired by Magic Albert this season.

A big strapping chestnut, Albertina has been given time by Waterhouse to mature into her considerable frame and her obvious talent shone on debut when she moved clear at the top of the straight to win the 1200 metre maiden by more than two lengths, under hands and heels riding from Chris Munce.

Racing in the Star Thoroughbreds colours, Albertina started hot favourite and her win was well received by her large group of ten owners.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Albertina fetched $115,000 at the 2005 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is the most expensive filly sired by Magic Albert.

A half-sister to six winners including good metropolitan performer Newington Style, Albertina is the eighth and final foal of stakes-placed Vaslav (USA) mare Pagan Dance who died in 2005.

Magic Albert has seven yearlings catalogued for the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale (January 11 – 19) and three for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale (February (10 – 12).
