Malaysia, November 26 – Fastnet Rock six year-old Speed Baby started his racing career in Malaysia where he won six of his first eight starts before switching to Singapore where he won the Singapore Patrons Bowl Sng Gr 1, but he is now back in Malaysia and was in top form at the weekend winning the Coronation Cup (1600m) Mal Gr 1 at the Perak Turf Club in Ipoh.
He carried top weight of 57kgs in the this year’s RM700,000 Coronation Cup, but the heavy impost could not stop Speed Baby from recording his fourth win at the highest level on the Singapore/Malaysian Racing Association circuit.
Speed Baby was a $280,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for Malaysian based buyer CP Bey and has won nine of 23 starts returning more than $A900,000 in prizemoney.
Bred by Tim Hughes and Ron Dufficy, Speed Baby is the first foal of Group III placed Twisted Heart, a daughter of leading US sire Distorted Humor (USA) from the family of Group II winners Katima and Deferential.
Twisted Heart has a yearling full sister to Speed Baby that will be consigned by Yarraman Park to the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
