The Murray Bain Service Award, sponsored by GallagherBassett, was presented to Paul Adams, senior Partner Scone Equine Hospital, for his contribution to the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeding Industry, while the President’s Award was presented to Yarraman Park Director Arthur Mitchell for his outstanding life‐long service to the Hunter Valley Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.
Yarraman Park Stud has been home to thoroughbreds for over 100 years. From a family steeped in the thoroughbred breeding tradition, Arthur Mitchell’s career spans over 40 years with a wealth of national and international thoroughbred breeding experience.
Arthur Mitchell’s contribution to the thoroughbred breeding industry has been, and
continues to be, invaluable.
In addition to his commitment to standing, breeding, rearing, spelling or pre‐training some of the best thoroughbreds, including Catbird, Foreplay, Snitzel, Amelia’s Dream, Fastnet Rock, Grand Armee and Magic of Money, Arthur has been a passionate advocate for the promotion and protection of the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeding Industry.
During his career Arthur Mitchell has been Past President of both the Scone Race Club and the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association (HTBA).
Today he remains a member of both and retains the Vice Presidency of the Scone Race Club. He is also a Director of Aushorse and a key member of the HTBA’s Protect Our Industries Committee.
