Melbourne, July 27 – The Peter Moody stable has enjoyed a phenomenal season, adding to their tally of success with an exciting six length debut winner at Sale on Tuesday in Magic Albert three year-old Assertive Albert.
Sent out a raging hot favourite, Assertive Albert sat off the pace and when the gap came in the straight, the handsome bay bounded away to win in a breeze, zooming clear to take the 1000 metre maiden in 58.29 seconds.
Assertive Albert was a $50,000 purchase for Bill Mitchell from the Tamarisque Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is the second foal of unraced Assertive Belle, a half-sister by Lure to Singapore stakes-winner Lim’s Ransom.
Assertive Belle was amongst 125 mares covered by Magic Albert last spring, so there is a full sibling to Assertive Albert due to arrive soon.
Assertive Albert is one of 66 Australian winners for Magic Albert this season, his progeny earnings topping $2.3million with stakes-winning performances from Albert the Fat (Group One BTC Cup), Plain Magic and Master Harry.
Completely free of Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector and Star Kingdom blood, Magic Albert is an affordable outcross that works at a fee of $13,750.
