Melbourne, August 31 – The three year-old fillies event at Sandown on Sunday was won in good style by Fastnet Rock filly Jolie Brise, a $400,000 purchase for Pendant Equine from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Having her third race start, the Pat Hyland trained Jolie Brise showed the benefit of race experience, jumping smoothly and taking up a lovely position from barrier one to enjoy the run of the race.

When given clear running in the straight by Chris Symons, she let down with an impressive burst, cruising clear to win the 1200 metre event by more than a length.

Raced by the Frost family’s Pendant Equine Syndicate, which has enjoyed much success with high class fillies such as Zarita and Ballet Society, Jolie Brise holds an entry to the Group One MRC Thousand Guineas on October 14, so is obviously held in good regard by the stable.

Bred by Vintage Bloodstock and consigned for sale by Yarraman Park as agent, Jolie Brise is a half-sister to stakes-winner Rutherford Eagle from the Group Three winning Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Vestey.

Vestey hails from the wonderful Gypsy Moss (IRE) family that has produced a plethora of top class stakes horses, this particular branch featuring Pasta Express, Time Out, Legally Bay and Classy Fella.
