Melbourne, September 9 – Progressive Fastnet Rock filly Jolie Brise made it back-to-back metropolitan wins when she powered clear to score a stylish victory at Sandown on Wednesday.

Partnered this time by 3kg claiming apprentice Nathan Rose, the Pat Hyland trained filly went forward from a wide draw and booted away from her rivals down the running to take the Ratings 68 event over 1400 metres by a length.

“She’s done that really easily,” said Nathan Rose.

“She jumped well today so we went forward from the gate, but I think she’ll be much better ridden off the pace and should have no worries getting a mile.”

Jolie Brise is putting together a smart record with two wins and a third from just four start.

Raced by the Frost family’s Pendant Equine Syndicate, which has enjoyed much success with high class fillies such as Zarita and Ballet Society, Jolie Brise holds an entry to the Group One MRC Thousand Guineas on October 14, so is obviously held in good regard by the stable.

Bred by Vintage Bloodstock and consigned to the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Yarraman Park as agent, Jolie Brise was purchased by Pendant for $400,000 and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Rutherford Eagle from the Group Three winning Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Vestey.

Vestey hails from the wonderful Gypsy Moss (IRE) family that has produced a plethora of top class stakes horses, this particular branch featuring Pasta Express, Time Out, Legally Bay and Classy Fella.

Jolie Brise is one of six winners this season sired by Fastnet Rock, who was represented last weekend by Group Two place-getters Wanted and Lovemelikearock as well as promising Flemington winner Irish Lights.
