October 12 – This time two years ago classy mare Mimi Lebrock was in top form scoring a commanding win in the Group Two MRC Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield on Cup Day, but this spring she’s busy as a new mother for the first time.
Sold privately after a sparkling career on the track during which the daughter of Show a Heart won five races and $1.1 million under the care of master trainer Bart Cummings including a memorable victory in the MM 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast, Mimi Lebrock is now based at Yarraman Park where she delivered this filly by Redoute’s Choice.
“She’s a lovely foal, very correct and has a gorgeous head… we think she’ll be one of our very best fillies,” said Harry Mitchell.
“We had a few doubts about going to Redoute’s Choice, only because Mimi Lebrock is a big scopey mare and there was a school of thought that she might be a bit too big for him, but this filly is outstanding.
“She’s been a terrific mother and for her next mating we’ll go to More Than Ready.”
Mimi Lebrock is owned by UK based bloodstock investment group Breeding Capital in partnership with Yarraman Park and her original owner Les Smith, who retained an interest.
“Breeding Capital purchased two mares in Australia, Mimi Le Brock and also the stakes-winning Galileo mare Banc de Fortune, who is closely related to dual Group One winner Faint Perfume,” Mitchell explained.
“Banc de Fortune has a yearling colt by Fastnet Rock going to the sales next year and has had another good colt this spring by the same sire and will now go to Redoute’s Choice, so their investment is progressing very well at this stage.”
