Melbourne, December 15 – Yarraman Park sold gallopers Mabsam and Big Bear Rock both tasted success at the weekend when saluting at Flemington on Saturday.

A four year-old mare by Stratum, the David Hayes trained Mabsam bounced back from a luckless run last start in the Listed MRC Summoned Stakes, recapturing her best form to win comfortably over 1620 metres.

Stakes-placed on a couple of previous occasions, Mabsam will no doubt be looking to snare a Black Type event in the future, her overall record now two wins and seven placings from 14 starts with prizemoney in excess of $135,000.

Mabsam was a $240,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell Stud and is a half-sister to Group III winner Viking Ruler from Gypsy Dollar, a half-sister by Zabeel to AJC Derby winner Innocent King.

It’s also the family of Group I winners Unearthly and Invest, so Mabsam will make a lovely broodmare for Shadwell in due course.

Making it a double for Yarraman graduates was five year-old Fastnet Rock gelding Big Bear Rock, who posted his third win from nine starts when forging clear to win over 1000 metres by more than a length.

Big Bear Rock was a $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainer Stephen Brown, who has just taken 30 boxes at Flemington, having previously been based at Darwin.

Big Bear Rock is a half-brother to Group III winner Speedy Natalie from stakes-winner Speedy Bell, whose yearling filly by Al Maher (a full sister to Speedy Natalie) is entered for the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Yarraman Park will present a terrific draft of 26 youngsters for the 2013 Magic Millions.
