Hong Kong, March 2 – Former top class juvenile Diego Garcia has carved out a successful career in Hong Kong racing as Express Win and ran a terrific race at Sha Tin on Sunday when beaten a head in the Hong Kong Macau Trophy HK Gr 3 over 1400 metres.

Now trained by Dennis Yip, Express Win was a last start winner in Class One company at Sha Tin and ran his usual honest race to go down in a driving finish to the imported David Hall trained galloper Hawkes Bay (GB).

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Express Win was originally purchased by Gai Waterhouse for $210,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the son of Catbird winning three of his first four starts including the Group Two STC Todman Stakes.

His overall record now stands at five wins and nine placings from 30 starts.

Yarraman Park have sold full brothers to Express Win by Catbird from the Sir Tristram (IRE) mare Pine Lodge Lady at Magic Millions for the last two years in 2007 for $100,000 to Asian Bloodstock Services and in 2008 to Geoff Woodruff for $80,000.

Pine Lodge Lady produced a colt by Magic Albert last spring.
