November 18 – The $81,600 Goulburn Cup was won last Friday by progressive Magic Albert gelding Straight Albert, who is proving to be a valuable new addition to the Guy Walter stable.

Placed at his two previous runs in town since resuming from a spell for his new trainer, Straight Albert did best in a tight finish to win the 1600 metre feature by a short neck from a big field of 16 runners.

Retained to race by his breeders, Straight Albert has won four races and placed six times from 14 starts earning in excess of $120,000 in prizemoney.

He is one of four winners for the Monongahela (USA) mare Sativa, who also has a yearling filly by Magic Albert.
