Sydney, December 4 – Magic Albert has been running hot this season with 41% winners to runners with progressive four year-old Daintree Road adding to the success with a cavalier front running victory at Rosehill on Saturday.
Prepared by Gai Waterhouse, Daintree Road was shooting for a hat-trick and stripped a very a fit conveyance. He had no trouble leading for Nash Rawiller before powering clear to win the Benchmark 75 event over 1500 metres by four lengths.
A homebred for well known owner/breeder Yvonne Smith, Daintree Road has won five races and placed twice from 11 starts earning $103,150, with the promise of more to come over the summer.
“It’s great to be back in the winner’s circle on a Saturday,” said Yvonne Smith, who has enjoyed much success with Gai Waterhouse over the years, most notably with horses such as Assertive Lad and Arlington Road.
“I was worried about the going, but he’s bred for it.”
Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park for her breeder, Daintree Road is the first foal of unplaced Fasliyev (USA) mare Sunset Boulevard and is one of 49 Australian winners this season for Magic Albert.
Sunset Boulevard has a yearling filly by Ad Valorem (USA) and produced a filly by Choisir this spring.
Magic Albert has half a dozen yearlings to be offered at the Magic Millions Sale in January and a further eight at Inglis Classic.
