October 14 – The brilliant win of top class filly Yosei in the Group One MRC Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on Wednesday highlighted the quality of her champion European sire Invincible Spirit (IRE), who has just one sire son at stud in Australia.

That horse is Yarraman Park based I Am Invincible, who is working through an impressive debut book of around 140 mares.

“He’s been very well supported and has taken to his new career with much enthusiasm,” reports Arthur Mitchell of Yarraman Park.

“His fertility is excellent and he is working very well for us, as we often like to say ‘he’s very good in the barn’!”

A magnificent individual with speed to burn, I Am Invincible combines the best of European bloodlines through his sire Invincible Spirit (IRE) with an outstanding Australian female family featuring prolific stakes-winners Mamzelle Pedrille, O’Lonhro, Madame Pedrille and current star M’Lady Pedrille.

His sire Invincible Spirit had limited opportunity in Australia when he stood in Victoria with Yosei coming from his final crop, which was conceived when he was just starting to take off in Europe.

“Invincible Spirit has now become one of the leading sires in Europe and as such has become too valuable to shuttle back to Australia and when you see a filly like Yosei you can understand why he is so successful,” said Mitchell.

A Group One winner at two of the AJC Sires Produce Stakes, Yosei has trained on in good style to win the Thousand Guineas at 1600 metres stamping herself amongst the best fillies of her generation.

Yosei is one of 41 stakes-winners worldwide for Invincible Spirit, who stands at the Irish National Stud at a fee of 45,000 euros.

“He’s having another outstanding year in Europe with 13 stakes-winners including that really good filly Hooray, winner of the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes,” Mitchell added.

Hooray is one of more than 30 two year-old winners in Europe this year for Invincible Spirit, four of them stakes-winners.
