Melbourne, March 14 – Magic Albert featured at Flemington on Saturday with an exciting juvenile stakes-winner after the Peter Moody trained colt Master Harry blitzed his rivals to win the Listed VRC Streets Stakes on debut.
A handsome chestnut with a striking white blaze, Master Harry settled fifth in the field of six before unleashing a powerful finishing burst that carried him nearly three lengths clear of his nearest pursuer Curtana, the time for the 1000 metre sprint a brisk 56.96 seconds.
“We came here with an open mind,” said Jeff O’Cnonnor, Racing Manager for Peter Moody.
“The winner has sort of snuck up on us.
“We didn’t really see him winning two-year-old races at this time of the year but he has come through the last month in super shape.”
O’Connor said the stable had no grand plans for Master Harry, but was confident the colt would be capable of running out a strong mile in the future.
“We probably have to go home and assess what Luke (Nolen) says about him,” he said. “We’ll see if he has any more left in him this preparation.”
Master Harry’s win continued the stable’s long association with Hong Kong owner K K Chung who has raced the likes of Speedy Natalie and Ambitious General with Moody.
Master Harry was purchased for Mr Chung by Bill Mitchell, who secured the son of Magic Albert for $100,000 from the Kanangra draft at the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Master Harry was the send highest priced yearling sired by Magic Albert in 2009 and is a full brother to former smart Sydney mare Lieserl, being from the metropolitan winner Sri Lanka, a half-sister to stakes-winner Key Issue from stakes-winner Momentaire
He was bred by the Cobcroft family who have nurtured theis female family for many years to produce stakes-winners such as Hot as Hell and Flaming Hot, plus the more recent HK stakes-winner Craig’s Dragon.
