Sydney, February 10 – – Still going strong as a seven year-old is talented Magic Albert gelding Magic Weekend, who scored a determined nose win at Warwick Farm on Saturday over 1400 metres.
Rock hard fit at his fourth run back from a spell, the Hawkes Racing trained gelding produced his best to nail Number One Gun right on the line, his overall record now five wins and 10 placings from 28 starts with prizemoney just shy of $210,000.
A $150,000 purchase from the Huntworth Stud draft at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Magic Weekend is from the Grand Lodge (USA) mare Happy Camper and was the most expensive yearling by his sire sold in that year.
Magic Albert has been enjoying a great start to the year in the sale ring, his progeny averaging $136,000 at Magic Millions, while at Inglis Classic he provided the equal sale topper when his colt from Kianben sold for $170,000.
