Sydney, August 5 – Claiming her first metropolitan victory at Randwick on Wednesday was the Anne-Marie Ruttley trained mare Gypsy Googol, a $200,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Gypsy Googol charged home late to score a narrow head win in the 1800 metre restricted event for mares, her overall record now two wins and a frustrating seven placings from 16 starts.
Bred by Yarraman Park and partners, Gypsy Googol is by Secret Savings (USA) and is the first foal of the Zabeel mare Gypsy Dollar, who has been a most profitable mare for the farm with her last two yearlings by Stratum and Elvstroem both fetching $160,000, the Stratum filly pictured here.
Gypsy Dollar is a half-sister to Group One AJC Australian Derby winner Innocent King and Group Two winner Royal Snack and is also closely related to Group One AJC Flight Stakes winner Unearthly.
Gypsy Dollar has a yearling filly by Stratum and was covered last spring by dual Group One winner Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) in his first season at stud.
