Melbourne, September 24– The open mares sprint at Caulfield on Saturday was won by smart speedster Lady Mahler, a $70,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Trained by Clinton McDonald, Lady Mahler has been in good form this preparation and improved on her gallant second to Tiger Tees in Sydney last start to take the 1100 metre dash by the best part of a length.
Lady Mahler has won four races and placed second four times from 13 starts and won $127,700 for her large group of owners.
A half-sister by Al Maher to handy metropolitan winners Barrenjoey Sunrise and Accolade, Lady Mahler is from the stakes-winning mare Promise Me (NZ), who died in 2008.
