A homebred for Shadwell that was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, three year-old Snitzel colt Muraaqeb scored a career best win in the Group III ATC Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Prepared by the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership, Muraaqeb hit the lien hard to win the 1600 metre contest by the best part of a length taking his overall record to three wins and five placings from 12 starts with earnings of $334,350.

“He ran well in some of the better races in Melbourne without much luck from wider draws,” said winning rider Damien Oliver.

“Today we had a lovely run and David said he was quite keen on his chances so he’s turned out to be a good judge.”

Muraaqeb is the first live foal from the Starcraft mare Tafseel, a half-sister to Group II winner Brave Prince and stakes-winner Valourina out of the Group I Queensland Derby and Group I Queensland Oaks winner Bravery.
