Emirates Park enjoyed the ultimate racetrack success winning the Golden Slipper with quality filly Mossfun, who then started her stud career in Europe before returning home in 2019 and her third foal born back in Australia was the star of the show at Magic Millions on Tuesday.

Consigned by Emirates Park, the half-brother by I Am Invincible to Group III ATC Festival Stakes winner Dajraan (Frankel) was the obvious standout on day one and duly sold for $1.65million to Hawkes Racing.

Team Hawkes trained his mother Mossfun, so will no doubt look forward to seeing what this powerhouse colt can do and they will have a good clue to his potential as they are training his two year-old full sister for Emirates Park called Mathkhoora.

She has had one trial back in October finishing second at Randwick and is currently in work.

“We’re racing for a lot of prizemoney now and this colt just stood out when we saw him,” Michael Hawkes noted.

“You come to the sales expecting to go home with lovely horses and when you see a horse of this calibre especially out of a horse like Mossfun that we had a lot to do with, it doesn’t get much better.

“There’s a lot of similarities (to Mossfun) and he really does look like mum quite a bit. He’s just a bigger version.

“We love his athleticism, he’s got a great attitude and wanted to work it and had that beautiful fluid walk. It doesn’t get much better from an I Am Invincible out of a Slipper winner.”

I Am Invincible had seven yearlings sell during the first session for an average $658,571 to be the leading sire by average.
