exceptionally well at the sales this year with a colt from Snarling adding to the success when fetching $115,000 at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on Wednesday.

Consigned for sale by Tyreel Stud, the colt was secured by Hong Kong based buyer Tong Wang Chow and is closely related to Caulfield Cup winner Cole Diesel and former sizzling Sydney sprinter Joanne.

The youngster was a successful pinhook for Tyreel Stud, having been purchased by Scott Holcombe for just $10,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale last year from the draft of Mane Lodge.

“We bought him for the staff, so they are pretty happy with me right now!” said Scott Holcombe, who is due to take up a new position as Stud Manager at Milburn Creek Thoroughbreds for John Muir.

“This sale was my swan song for Tyreel, so it’s great for it to end like this for all of our team.”

The colt from Snarling went ahead in leaps and bounds under the care of the Tyreel team and was in keen demand at this sale, particularly from the Asian buyers.

“He is a lovely walker and had plenty of his dad in him,” Holcombe revealed.

“I prepped his father for sale and looked after him as a young horse when I was at Woodlands, so I knew what a good horse he was.

“Even as a weanling, this colt was very typical of his sire and had plenty of room for improvement so we took a punt on him, buying him without x-rays.

“He was very popular here at the sale and was out of his box the whole time being inspected, so we were hopeful he would sell well and the Asian interest in him was remarkable with Rob McAnulty ending up the under-bidder for a buyer from Hong Kong.”

I Am Invincible stands this spring at a fee of $11,000 and will have his first runners in the new season.
