May 17 – I Am Invincible was in hot form at the weekend with a new winner in New Zealand in Leeds and a new stakes performer in Uratta Belle, who finished a gallant second in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone.

Having her first run back from a spell, the Kylie Gavenlock trained Uratta Belle zoomed home for second to Shigeru Sendan and looks certain to win her share of races.

With form around Group I winner Peggy Jean and stakes-winner Fighting Sun in her initial campaign, Uratta Belle will be well worth following in coming weeks.

Improving on a debut fifth in March, the Michael Breslin trained Leeds opened his account when scoring by three-quarters of a length over 1200 metres at Awapuni on a heavy track.

Bought from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney for $30,000 from the Little Wych draft, Leeds is from Swentre who comes from the family of Group II winner Le Zagaletta.

“We bought two at the Classic Sale in Sydney and another two this year,” said Michael Breslin.

“Peter Didham and I went over with the idea of putting them in the Ready to Run Sale back here and we sold one by Manhattan Rain and kept this one and syndicated him with stable clients.”

Both Didham, Wellfield Lodge’s operations manager, and Breslin share in the ownership of Leeds, who looks to have a bright future.

“He’s a lovely type, but mentally he’s got some maturing to do,” Breslin said.

“He’ll either go out for a break now and come back for the Guineas races or I might give him one more run in the Castletown Stakes if he does really well after this race.”
