Hinchinbrook’s three-quarter brother Snitzel might be the leading sire of two year-old winners in Australia this season, but I Am Invincible is leading his pursuers. I Am Invincible sired his 15th two year-old winner of the season on Wednesday when Invincible Mode scored an easy two length win at Belmont in Perth. With two seconds and a fourth at his previous three runs, Invincible Mode was overdue for a win. A $22,500 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for his trainer Martin Allan from the Eliza Park International draft, Invincible Mode is the fourth winner from Fashion Week, a half-sister by Dehere (USA) to Group III winner Cornwall Queen. With his oldest progeny about to turn five, I Am Invincible has proven himself as an outstanding source of winners with some 88 this season with combined earnings topping $5million. Among those winners are five stakes-winners – I am a Star, Super One, Look to the Stars, Divine Centuri and Sundance, not to mention the Group II Wellington Guineas winner The Justice League in New Zealand. All of what has been achieved to date by I am Invincible has been from his first books of mares covered at a fee of $11,000. In 2014, his fee was raised to $27,500 and the resulting foals will be yearlings of 2017 with another outstanding crop of foals due this spring off his first year at $55,000. The overall statistics for I Am Invincible are super impressive when seen in context of the quality of mare he has covered in those first four years at $11,000. He has nearly 65% winners to runners and 5.8% stakes-winners to runners, showing a remarkable talent to upgrade even the most pedestrian of mares. I Am Invincible already has his dual Group I winning son Brazen Beau at stud for Darley and another brilliant son in Super One set to kick off for Newgate Farm this spring. Booked out a long time ago for this season, I Am Invincible has made a great start to his stud career, but is still clearly a work in progress.
