Gold Coast, January 8 – For a stallion that stands at a fee of $11,000, Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible has had a big last 12 months since last year’s Magic Millions, his first yearling into the ring at the Gold Coast this year selling for $260,000.
Currently the leading first season sire in Australia by winners and earnings, I Am Invincible has 16 youngsters catalogued for this sale, the first of them Lot 116, a colt from Sunset Boulevard offered by Yarraman Park.
A half-brother to Group II winner Meliora and two other handy metropolitan winners in Daintree Road and Suki, he was bred by popular owner breeder Yvonne Smith.
The colt attracted keen competition in the ring from numerous parties before being knocked down to champion trainer Chris Waller, the docket signed by Chan Lai of New Zealand.
$260,000 is a new benchmark for I Am Invincible as his most expensive yearling.
Sunset Boulevard missed to I Am Invincible in 2012, but was one of 170 mares covered by the exciting young son of Invincible Spirit last spring.
