Sydney, July 5 – Ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird featured at Canterbury on Wednesday with the Bart Cummings trained mare Gretchenella, who scored a half length win in the Class Three event over 1550 metres.

An unlucky second at her previous start, Gretchenella has been most consistent with two wins and seven placings to her credit.

A $150,000 purchase from the 2004 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Gretchenella is from the Nassipour (USA) mare Kim Sayang, a full sister to Group One winning stayer Shiva’s Revenge.

Gretchenella is one of 87 individual Australian winners for Catbird this season, their combined earnings topping $3million to have him in 17th place on the general sires list for 2006/2007.
