Bred and offered for sale by Baramul Stud, the top seller at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale on day one was a $400,000 I Am Invincible filly from Les Amoureux.

The star filly sold to Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock (FBAA)/ Ridgeport Holdings and broke the previous sale record set by a daughter of Dundeel two years ago who sold for $375,000.

She is the first foal of a winning three-quarter sister by Redoute’s Choice to Group II winner Sambro from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and current Group winning mare Roots.

“She was a bloody good filly and I thought she probably could’ve been at the Gold Coast or even Easter,” said Lloyd Kennewell.

“She’s one of the best ‘Vinnies’ I’ve seen all year and that says something because we see a lot of them and there are some million dollar Vinnie fillies around.

“She looks like a filly that will be perfect for the race (Magic Millions 2YO Classic) next year.

“I knew she’d be expensive, but I didn’t know where that would be, so it was tricky.

“I had Santo (Guagliardo), my client on the phone from Ridgeport Holdings in WA, and I didn’t quote him that much money for her and we didn’t start bidding or talking until she got to $340,000.

“I told him this was the one I really wanted, so we had two bids on her and we were lucky to secure her.”

Les Amoureux was covered last spring by I Am Invincible’s champion son Home Affairs.
