Sydney, April 12 –Outstanding producer Oceanfast was the star attraction on the opening day of the 2011 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale fetching $700,000 when knocked down to Peter Ford Thoroughbreds.
The Mitchell family have enjoyed an unprecedented run of success with Oceanfast, having sold five yearlings from her at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale for a grand total of almost $7.5million.
Offered in foal to top class sire Fastnet Rock on an early service, Oceanfast is still hot commercial property.
Arthur Mitchell confirmed that Oceanfast would return to the farm after the sale as they were able to keep a percentage in her ownership.
"She’s been a great mare to us and we’re delighted that we can retain some ownership in her and have her come home," said Arthur Mitchell.
