Gold Coast, June 5 – Stakes-winning Catbird mare Litter was in keen demand at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Wednesday with Patinack Farm eventually securing the striking chestnut for $860,000.

"She’s an outstanding prospect," Patinack’s director Roger Langley said. "We’re excited about her future."

Langley indicated Litter would stay in work and be set for more feature races into the carnival.

"The Group One Winter Stakes in a couple of weeks will most likely be her next start, but we’ve got a few things to work out first," added Langley in reference to whether the mare would remain in the care of her current trainer Kris Lees.

Previously owned by Kris Lees in partnership with Tony Bott’s E Thoroughbred Syndicate, Litter has been a tough and consistent campaigner winning five races and placing 11 times from 26 starts earning a tick over $200,000 in prizemoney.

Originally purchased for $60,000 by Tony Bott from the Wakefield Stud draft at the 2003 Inglis Weanling Sale, Litter is one of three winners produced by the Chromite mare Alkimiya (USA), who comes from an international Black Type family.
