A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for David Ellis/ Andrew Williams Bloodstock, two year-old I Am Invincible filly I Choose You made a winning debut at Te Aroha in New Zealand on Saturday for Team Te Akau.
Trained by Jamie Richards, I Choose You did everything right and cruised clear to win the 1100m maiden by a length over two of her stablemates Grace ‘n’ Grey and Accidental Tourist.
“I thought I Choose You was very professional and really kicked hard when asked for her effort,” Richards said.
“She pinned her ears back and had a go, which is what you want to see.
“We will just play it by ear with them all, but I would think that I Choose You is an ideal Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (Gr.2, 1200m) type so she can have a few easy days and we might look at the Eclipse Stakes (Gr.2, 1200m) at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day for her next start.”
I Choose You was bred by Yarraman Park and is the second winner from Group III placed Starcraft mare Choose, who comes from the family of Group I winning sprinter Bawalaksana.
