Yarraman Park’s flagship sire I Am invincible was the dominating force during the opening session of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale with 18 yearlings generating $14,625,000 at an average $812,500 with five individual yearlings selling for $1million or more.

Newhaven Park have been enjoying a great run on the track of late with Group I ATC The Galaxy winner Mariamia and Arts, who won the Group III ATC Adrian Knox Stakes, and their good fortune continued when their I Am Invincible colt from their superstar mare English sold for $1.55million.

Bred and retained to race by the Kelly family, English was the Champion 2YO and 3YO Filly of her time winning six races and $3.4million with highlight wins in the BRC Ten Thousand and ATC All Aged Stakes.

The daughter of Encosta de Lago had a troubled start to her stud career with a miss and a slip in her first two seasons before hitting the jackpot on the third try with this stunning colt by I Am Invincible that was purchased by Kia Ora/ TFI/ Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

He will be trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, who also prepared English for the Kelly family.

“I first saw him at Newhaven and he came out and paraded and I thought ‘oh you’re a bit of a cool dude’, having no idea he was out of English, the great mare that Adrian and I trained for the Kelly family,’’ Waterhouse said.

“And then I kept seeing him here and he grew on me more and more. You look at them a bit differently when you know their breeding.

“Adrian was committed that we should try to secure this horse and we were very lucky to be able to have had the people come in at the same time in Kia Ora and TFI, it all came together you could say the moons aligned.’’

Newhaven’s John Kelly added: “To come here today and sell the colt for that much money, it’s just quite extraordinary really.

“He was a lovely colt, he had a lovely pedigree, champion colt, champion mare by a champion stallion, and he sold very well.

“We’re very pleased that Gai is going to end up back training him and very gracious of Kia Ora and TFI for purchasing the horse. We’re just really pleased.’’
