A change of environment and the benefit of maturity have worked wonders for talented I Am Invincible mare Fickle, who bolted in at Moonee Valley on Friday night to win by nearly five lengths with Craig Williams in the saddle.
A homebred for Yarraman Park and partners, Fickle started her racing career in Sydney with Peter and Paul Snowden, but after two unplaced runs in Sydney in January she was sent to Tom Dabernig in Victoria.
Fickle was having her fourth start for her new trainer and scored her most impressive win claiming the Benchmark 70 over 1000m in a breeze and has had two wins and two seconds since heading south.
Fickle is the first living foal and first winner for G3-winning Hinchinbrook mare Flippant, a three-quarter sister to G1 winner I Am Excited from the family of G1 winners Atlantic Jewel, Commanding Jewel and Russian Emperor.
Flippant has been a profitable producer with Yarraman Park also selling fillies from her for $2 million and $750,000, however she has no yearling for the sales in 2025, but has foaled this spring producing a colt by I Am Invincible.
