Improving Magic Albert colt Alberts Return had no difficulty in measuring up to metropolitan company at Doomben on Friday when he defeated older horses to win the Class One event over 1640 metres.

Prepared at Ballina by Sue Birney, the colt was a runaway winner at Murwillumbah last start and has been in top form this preparation collecting a cheque at each of four starts.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Alberts Return fetched $40,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

He is a half-brother to South African Group Two winner Full Press from the stakes-winner Peignoir (NZ), a daughter of the Nijinsky horse Tights (USA).

Magic Albert has sired 13 individual winners this season in Australia and New Zealand and leads the sires table in terms of individual winners.

He will stand the coming season at Yarraman Park Stud at a fee of $11,000.
