Yarraman Park based Magic Albert notched his fourteenth individual winner at Ballarat on Friday when the Therese Patton trained gelding Albert Cadabra scored in the 1000 metre juvenile maiden.

Having his first start, Albert Cadabra settled back in the field before finishing strongly to win by the best part of a length.

Albert Cadabra was purchased by Patton at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale where he fetched $55,000 during Session Five.

Bred and offered for sale by Stratheden Stud, Albert Cadabra is the eighth foal of Our Rosalind, a winning half-sister by Bletchingly to former star sprinter Monopolize, a dual winner of the HK International Bowl Gr 2.

Patton originally purchased Albert Cadabra with the plan of re-selling him at the Inglis Ready to Run Sale last October, but after failing to make a reserve of $80,000 he was retained.

Magic Albert is the leading first season sire in terms of individual winners with 14 to his credit including the two highly impressive New Zealand based youngsters Alberto and Magic Cape.

Magic Albert is fast filling up this spring at a fee of $11,000.
