Gold Coast, August 12 – The winning run being enjoyed by the progeny of Magic Albert over the last few months continued at the Gold Coast on Saturday when three-year old colt Tricory notched his first victory, giving Magic Albert his first winner of the new season.
Prepared by leading Gold Coast conditioner John Wallace, Tricory started favourite in the 900 metre maiden and lived up to punters expectations in scoring an easy length and a half win, his first in three starts.
Tricory was purchased by Wallace for $72,500 from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud as agent at the 2005 Magic Millions Session Five Yearling Sale.
He is a half-brother to stakes-placed Sweet Chloe from the winning Rory’s Jester mare Sweet Rory, whose dam is a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Reisling.
Since foaling Tricory, Sweet Rory has become a regular visitor to Magic Albert having also produced a two-year old colt called Our Corey and a yearling filly by him, plus is due to foal to him again this spring.
Magic Albert stands at a fee of $11,000 representing outstanding value for a proven sire of winners that is Northern Dancer free.
