August 22 — After spending six months in Ireland working at the National Stud, valued Yarraman Stud employee Luke Cash is back on the farm and preparing for a busy spring season.

The twenty-year old won a scholarship through an initiative of the Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association to live and work at the Irish National Stud, where he was joined by 25 other international scholarship winners, including four from Australia.

Prizes were awarded to the best students with Luke bringing home a Silver Medal for his efforts, much to the delight of everyone at Yarraman Park.

Despite the often-freezing conditions, typical of the weather in Ireland, Luke greatly enjoyed his journey, gaining valuable knowledge and first hand experience that will be of great benefit to his future career with horses.

“They do better with some things, while in other ways I think we do, but it was all positive and I learned as much as I could,” said Cash.

Luke’s trip was so successful that he plans to head overseas again in the next six months with aspirations to work the Northern Hemisphere breeding season in the U.K.
