Melbourne, September 23 – Magic Albert continued his winning run at Caulfield on Saturday when the Gary Portelli trained Something Anything resumed from a let-up to win the open event for three-year olds over 1100 metres.

The stylish bay gelding had collected a cheque at each of five previous runs, all on wet tracks in Sydney, but the transition south to firmer ground obviously agreed with him.

Settling just off the pace, Something Anything pounced late to score a short head win over the stakes-winning colt Enemy of Average.

Something Anything has now won $64,080 for his syndicate of eight owners and could easily add to that in coming weeks with an abundance of suitable three-year old races on the calendar.

Something Anything was offered by Yarraman Park as agent at the 2005 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he was knocked down to Gary Portelli for $40,000.

He is the sixth foal of the Kala Dancer (GB) mare Maline, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to We’re Dancing and half-sister to Group Three winner Allez Glen.

Magic Albert has not missed a beat since the start of the new season siring seven individual winners in Australia and New Zealand including stakes performers Alberto and Magic Jet.
