Melbourne, December 27 – Magic Albert sired his second metropolitan winner in two days when the Lee Freedman trained three-year old colt Renmin Road scored at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
A winner in town last preparation as a juvenile, Renmin Road resumed from a spell on December 1 when he chased home rising star Lucky Secret for second and in the absence of that galloper had little difficulty in coasting home this time to win by a length and a quarter.
Renmin Road was bred at Rosari Farm in Queensland and offered at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, but failed to make his reserve of $60,000.
Taken home, broken in and re-offered at the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast in October it was a whole new ball game, because of course he could run and run fast!
Renmin Road made $160,000 to the bid of Macau based buyer Tommy Cheung and was sent to Melbourne to join the Freedman stable.
Renmin Road is a half-brother to stakes-placed sprinter miler Loyal Lauren from the Woodlands Stud bred mare Tartans, a half-sister by Palace Music (USA) to stakes-winner Grampians from the stakes-winning mare Balmoral.
Magic Albert is the leading second season sire by individual winners with 19 to his credit and his Group One winning son Magic Cape will be set for the Group One New Zealand Derby in March.
