Brisbane, May 3 – Yarraman Park featured at Doomben on Wednesday cheering the success of Muzzio and Costa Complete, both horses bred and sold by the Mitchell family run farm.
Catbird three year-old Muzzio was sent out favourite and delivered the goods, skipping clear to win the 1350 metre maiden by more than two lengths.
A member of the powerful Bryan Guy stable, Muzzio was snapped up by Keiran Moore Bloodstock for $90,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
He is the first foal and second winner for Sakhalin (USA), a winning daughter of US Group Two winner Special Happening by champion sire Kingmambo.
Her second foal Miss Meerkat (filly by Catbird) is a winner for Slade Bloodstock and Lee Freedman this season at two and her third, a colt by Redoute’s Choice made $700,000 at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, knocked down to Rosehill trainer Tim Martin.
Sakhalin (USA) produced a colt by Catbird last spring and is now in foal to Mossman.
Encosta de Lago filly Costa Complete ended a frustrating run of placings when she saluted in the 1350 metre maiden for fillies and mares, posting her first win from 12 starts after finishing second on five occasions.
Prepared by Michael Nolan at Toowoomba, Costa Complete made $290,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale secured by Cranmere Lodge.
She is the fourth foal of the Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Strawberry Fields, a half-sister to Group Two winner Taineberry and daughter of Group One winner Strawberry Fair.
Strawberry Fields has now had four to race all winners and her yearling colt by Redoute’s Choice fetched $350,000 at Magic Millions earlier this year with the Hong Kong Jockey Club the successful bidder.
Strawberry Fields produced a Catbird filly last spring and is now in foal to Magic Albert.
