Melbourne, September 5 – Just a week after the arrival of her baby half-brother by Redoute’s Choice at Yarraman Park, record priced filly Perfect Persuasion opened her winning account with a scintillating six-length victory at Kyneton on Tuesday.

Purchased at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for an Australian record price of $2.6 million (for a yearling filly sold at public auction), Perfect Persuasion is a full sister to champion filly Alinghi being by Encosta de Lago from Oceanfast.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, she was secured by Demi O’Byrne and runs in the Coolmore navy blue for a syndicate of owners including the Mitchell family who retained a share.

Like Alinghi, she is prepared by Lee Freedman, who had her tuned up and ready to go at her first appearance for 26 weeks.

Having just her fourth race start, after being stakes-placed in the autumn behind Blue Diamond winner Sleek Chassis, Perfect Persuasion jumped well and enjoyed the run of the race in fourth spot before working to the front at the top of the straight.

When asked to accelerate, she quickly put a gap on her rivals, racing right away to win the 1200 metre maiden in a breeze.

“It was an easy win and a great confidence booster for her,” said winning rider Corey Brown.

“She jumped and traveled well and although she didn’t beat much, she certainly looks to have a bright future.”

Perfect Persuasion is entered for all the major spring fillies events and her progress is sure to be keenly followed.
