Melbourne, September 7 – The three year-old restricted event at Ballarat on Thursday was won in good style by the Choisir colt Simplest, a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud.
Prepared by Graeme Rogerson for prominent Victorian owner Lloyd Williams, Simplest settled well in transit before storming to the lead to win the 1200 metre event by more than a length.
It was the fourth race start for Simplest who was resuming from a spell of 25 weeks after being stakes-placed in the Listed MRC Pol Roger Stakes behind Gibraltar Campion back in the autumn.
Simplest is entered for all the major spring classics and certainly looks capable of winning better races judging by the ease of his first up victory.
Bred by the Dufficy brothers and offered for sale by Yarraman Park as agent, Simplest is a half-brother to stakes-winner Given being the seventh foal of the Covetous mare Mad Desire.
A metropolitan winner up to 1400 metres, Made Desire is a half-sister to Group Three winners Alert Me and Techniques, being from the family of Group One winning sprinters With Me and Accomplice.
