Melbourne, December 14 – Victorian based syndicators Slade Bloodstock enjoyed a winning day on Friday with horses purchased from Yarraman Park scoring a double at Mornington and Moonee Valley.

The Slade colours were first carried to victory during the afternoon when the Lee Freedman trained Encosta de Lago gelding Big Daddy Cool opened his account with a win in the maiden event at Mornington over 1216 metres.

First up from a spell of 32 weeks after being placed once from three starts at two, Big Daddy Cool saluted by the best part of a length.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Big Daddy Cool was secured by the Slade team for $150,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is the eighth foal of Miss Marscay, a full sister to dual Group One winner Miss Margaret.

Miss Marscay unfortunately died earlier this year but she has a yearling colt by Catbird.

The second leg of the winning double was posted by a daughter of Catbird in slick filly Vankedisi, who took her record to three wins from eight starts, when she led throughout to score at the night meeting at Moonee Valley.

Drawn in gate one for the restricted event for three year-olds over 1000 metres, Vankedisi broke quickly and was never headed in scoring a thoroughly professional win.

A full sister to Group Three placed Anhinga, Vankedisi is clearly on the improve and can easily progress further this spring for her Slade Bloodstock syndicate of owners.

A $150,000 purchase for Slade Bloodstock at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Vankedisi was bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park.

She is from the good metropolitan winning Crested Wave (USA) mare Rippling Mill, who was covered again by Catbird last season and produced a colt on September 9.

Slade Bloodstock have had some outstanding results with Yarraman sold yearlings having also won with Vankedisi’s sister Anhinga, Moment of Truth and Miss Meerkat as well as Group Three winning sprinter Here de Angels.
