Hellbent has been running hot on the track this year and his three yearlings offered at Inglis Easter were all sold for the same amount – $300,000.

All consigned by Yarraman Park, the colt from Pierro Moss always looked an obvious contender for Hong Kong and was duly bought by Hong Kong Bloodstock, while fillies from Rose of Mulan and Melisende were bought respectively by Mitchell Bloodstock and Sutton Racing / B Rogers / McKeever Bloodstock.

The yearlings sold this year are the first from when Hellbent had his fee increased to $38,500, so all the current racetrack success he is enjoying through the likes of Hong Kong Derby winner Invincible Ibis and top class 3YO filly Savvy Hallie is coming from horses bred off his $22,000 fee.

A Group I winning son of his champion sire I Am Invincible, Hellbent is filling a much-needed slot in the market for reliable proven middle market sires and covered 167 mares last spring.

Yearling buyers are coming to understand and appreciate the merit of Hellbent and at Magic Millions earlier this year he achieved a new benchmark in the sale ring when his filly from La Tigeresa sold for $600,000.

Onwards and upwards for Hellbent and his supporters!
