John Stewart’s Resolute Racing have been active bloodstock investors all over the world and a high profile acquisition in Australia was $3million Inglis Easter purchase Ernaux, who scored her best win to date at Randwick on Saturday.
The most expensive yearling by champion sire I Am Invincible ever sold, Ernaux is a big girl that has taken time to fill her frame and furnish.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden today by Tyler Schiller, Ernaux appreciated a good surface and with a patient ride was produced late to score a dominant length and a half win in the 1200m Benchmark 78 event for mares.
“It was hold your breath stuff at the top of the straight,” said Chris Waller.
“Tyler knew what he was doing and knew what he had under him.
“She really exploded late.”
Stakes-placed Ernaux has now won over $250,000 in prizemoney and was purchased from the Coolmore draft to run in the Resolute Racing colours for a partnership involving Resolute and Coolmore.
Tyle Schiller believes there is more to come from Ernaux.
“She is obviously is better on top of the ground but she doesn’t have a long sprint, I feel she just has that little sharp dash and it was good that she was able to duck and weave today,” Schiller said.
“It gave her a bit of confidence and when she got up to Jellicious, she peeled off its back and exploded.
“I didn’t have to ask too much of her, she might have a little bit more in the tank.”
Ernaux is the second foal and second winner for Group I winning Written Tycoon mare Booker, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $1.6million at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
Booker was sent to Kentucky in 2024, so produced a colt by Justify last spring and is due to foal to Switzerland.
Ernaux was one of two metro winners on Saturday for champion sire I am Invincible joining five year-old gelding Behaviour, who scored at Caulfield.
I Am Invincible stands this spring at a fee of $220,000.
