Blueblood I Am Invincible gelding Federalist has been long overdue for a win and at last was able to break the ice at Newcastle on Friday to give his triple Group I winning dam Arcadia Queen her first winner.
Trained by Team Hawkes, Federalist had been to the races 10 times before today and on eight of those occasions he was running in Group and Listed races including the G1 Australian Derby, Rosehill Guineas, Spring Champion Stakes, Champagne Stakes and Siresā Produce.

Resuming from a spell in the 1400m maiden, Federalist was a short priced favourite with Tyler Schiller to ride and carried a whopping 62kg to victory over another blueblood in Lafite, the three year-old gelded full brother to Group I winner Schwarz.
A $1million Magic Millions yearling sale purchase from Arrowfield for his trainers, Federalist runs for an ownership group that includes his breeders and a group of Hawkes stable clients.
He is the first foal of glamour mare Arcadia Queen, who won the Group I VRC LKS Mackinnon Stakes, MRC Caulfield Stakes and WATC Kingston Town Classic for her breeder Bob Peters before being purchased by Arrowfield Stud for $3.2million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2021.
