In-form South African trainer David Payne sent out another winner at Randwick on Wednesday when the Catbird filly Sequinella bounded clear to win by three lengths.

Considered unlucky when fourth last start at Randwick on New Year’s Day, Sequinella reveled in the step up to 1800 metres on the Kensington track, dashing right away to win the Ratings 76 event in a breeze.

Sequinella has won $61,800 in winning two races and placing twice from 10 starts proving a great result for her owners the Neasham Hayes Syndicate.

Purchased by David Payne at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for just $33,000, Sequinella was bred and offered for sale by Goodwood Farm.

Sequinella is the second foal of the Clay Hero mare Red Sequin, an unraced full sister to stakes-winner Czar Hero and half-sister to the dam of champion NZ two year-old Maroofity.

Ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird has been churning out winners over the last few weeks including the Group Two WATC Perth Cup winner Cats Fun and a metropolitan double on Saturday, so his progeny are sure to be in keen demand once again at sales in 2008.
