Adelaide, February 3 – Talented Magic Albert filly Princess Joy broke through for her first win at Morphettville on Saturday when saluting in the restricted fillies event over 1100 metres.
Stakes-placed as a juvenile when third to Volcada and Brazen Hussy in the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes, the Kylie Huxtable trained Princess Joy was backed into favouritism for this assignment, her first outing in some 27 weeks.
Princess Joy now has a win on the board to go with three previous placings, which accounts for her entire career of four starts.
A $16,000 purchase from the Adelaide Magic Millions for Kylie Huxtable, Princess Joy is the third foal of the Perugino (USA) mare Dominita, a half-sister to stakes-winner Sky Bullet from the family of former good galloper To The Wind, a Group Three winner of nine races.
Princess Joy is one of 24 winners this season for Magic Albert who covered a terrific book of 145 mares last spring at a fee of $16,500.
