September 4 – The foaling season is now in full season at Yarraman Park with some gorgeous new arrivals including a full sister to classy sprinter Al Be Nimble.
Imported Danehill mare Nimble (IRE) was acquired by the Mitchell family and Magic Albert’s owner Denis Wilton last year and after being covered by Magic Albert has produced this beautiful filly (pictured), a full sister to Al Be Nimble.
A stakes-winner of close to $300,000 in prizemoney, Al Be Nimble won six races and finished second five times from just 13 starts, his career highlights coming with a three and a half length win in the Listed Tatts Carrington Stakes and a dominant win in the Listed STC Civic Stakes under 57 kg.
Sadly, Al Be Nimble has suffered a severe tendon injury placing his racing future in doubt.
Another eye-catching arrival for Magic Albert is this bay filly from well-related Flying Spur mare Rivers Secret, a half-sister to Group One MRC Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove.
Rivers Secret had a Bel Esprit filly make $110,000 for Yarraman Park at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale earlier this year when bought by Danny O’Brien and she is typical of the better quality of mares that went to Magic Albert last year at the increased fee of $16,500, a factor that should be taken into account by breeders considering going to him this year.
The flow on effect from covering those better mares will ensure Magic Albert continues onwards and upwards, the son of Zeditave already the sire of some 85 winners of more than $4.2 million in prizemoney.
