Sydney, November 16 – Consistent Catbird mare Sequinella broke through for a deserved win in the Ratings 89 event for fillies and mares at Rosehill on Saturday taking her earnings in excess of $180,000.

Prepared on the track by David Payne Sequinella proved too strong at the finish for Group Three winning mare Raise, surging late to win by the best part of a length.

Purchased by David Payne at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale for just $33,000, Sequinella was bred and offered for sale by Goodwood Farm.

Sequinella is the second foal of the Clay Hero mare Red Sequin, an unraced full sister to stakes-winner Czar Hero and half-sister to the dam of champion NZ two year-old Maroofity.

Her ill-fated sire Catbird is enjoying his usual busy season with some 37 winners of more than $900,000 in prizemoney with his very last crop of yearlings sure to be in keen demand at the 2009 Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast where 22 have been catalogued.
