Sydney, January 24 – Five year-old Catbird gelding Buzzy Henry prevailed in a driving finish over Hotel Casino (Magic Albert) to win the 1300 metre welter at Randwick on Saturday in course record time, providing a memorable quinella for the Yarraman Park sires.

With a fast tempo set by the leader O’Crikey, Hotel Casino took over turning for home and looked set for victory until Buzzy Henry zoomed up late to snatch the win, cracking $200,000 in prizemoney and setting a new course record time of 1:15.56.

Buzzy Henry has won four races and placed seven times from 19 starts earning $235,850 for his large group of owners.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Buzzy Henry fetched $170,000 to the bid of Waterhouse at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

He is a half-brother to the stakes-winner Stormcat Academy being from the good metropolitan winner Cotton Bay.

Runner-up Hotel Casino is also a Yarraman product, by Magic Albert from Tycoon Scene (IRE), he was bred and sold for $70,000 from the same draft of horses as Buzzy Henry at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Catbird and Magic Albert are the most represented of the proven sires at the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling, the former with 15 and the latter with 18.

Both ultra consistent sires of winners, Catbird has had no fewer than 60 this season and Magic Albert, whose oldest progeny are five year-olds has had close to 40.
